Hope for Children

The Kalji Trust was founded in 2006 to work amongst the poor and destitute in Goa, India and to assist the work of the Christian churches in the region. One of the major aims of the charity is to provide long term care and assistance to children who find themselves in desperate circumstances.

Working through local partners in Goa, the Trust provides support to orphaned and destitute children, allowing them to receive shelter, food, clothing and care, and a quality education that enables them to have hope as they move towards adulthood. The Hope for Children programme provides each child with this support at an approximate cost of £25 per month.

Would you be prepared to link with us to provide this support?
As a linked individual or family, you will receive a photo of your child in school uniform, an everyday photo, individual profile, school report and two letters a year. You can write to your child via the PO Box, you can send small items that fit into an envelope. You will be kept informed of their progress via our newsletters and may send letters through the Trust. It may be possible to have a supervised visit to the home, please contact us for further details.

Our local partner, Care and Compassion - Goa is a Christian foundation, but the children themselves are identified simply on the basis of need and there is no discrimination on the basis of tribal or ethnic background or religious heritage. Similarly, girls are not placed at any disadvantage to boys in the assistance given.

The Trust is committed to providing transparent and efficient management of the funds entrusted to it, and to maximise the resources made available on the ground. Money received through the Hope for Children programme will all be passed to local partners. Because expenditure is generalised (e.g. food and staff costs), it is not possible to individually track every penny of expenditure but we do undertake that your child will benefit and receive support which properly reflects the full value of your support.

If you are interested in being linked with a child through the Hope for Children programme then in the first instance either download a form and return to us or contact us via email.
